Bom ano!

Hi and Happy New Year! We say bom ano or bom ano novo. I can't believe it's already 2007. I have six months left--why does time go by so fast!?!?!?! hehe. I hope you all had a wonderful New Year's.
I really haven't been doing much this week. mostly I slept a lot, spent too much time on the computer, ate a lot....hehe. I don't think there was a day after christmas when I woke up before 11.
One day I went to Sintra with Xuxu, Catarina and Miguel(inho). It's a town about a half hour drive from Lisbon. it was really cool and pretty! we went to the famous Palácio da Pena, which was awesome. My favorite part was the surroundings of the palácio--a really nice forest on a hill full of fog. Looked like an elve's forest and was quite cool. I put some pix up under touristy things #2.
Last week I also went to see Babel (I think that must be the english name too) wiht my AFS counselor and his german girlfriend, who are both really nice. It was fun, but the film was difficult....we all walked out not extremely lighthearted. But it was a very interesting film.
New Year's Eve I went to Mariana's house for dinner, then to the Praça do Comércio with her and her friend Joana (I know about 10 Joanas now). There was a concert, and fireworks, and it was quite cool. ate chestnuts, counted down to midnight, got showered by champagne (but didn't drink any)...it was fun.
Afterwards at about 2 AM we walked a long way down the street until we finally found a taxi (they were in high demand that night). Got home late of course and slept until 1h15. hehe.
Then had lunch yesterday with the aunt and uncle and cousins from next door and the grandparents. Watched Mission Impossible III. then went to the other grandfather's house for a family dinner. All this family stuff! It's great, but unusual for me. Things are going to be so quiet when I get home. It was kind of strange only having half a day.
Today too--woke up at 11h30 and got out of bed for lunch. I'm reading the second Harry Potter in Portuguese, which is fun. the problem is I have to read another book for school which is probably the equivalent of Dickens, but in Portuguese. I got through three pages the other day.....oy.
I'm not really excited for school to start again...mostly because of the lack of sleep it brings. and more stress. This week I've done nothing and it's been quite nice. Besides the fact that I feel guilty for spending so much time on the computer reading things in english.... but I don't feel guilty about not being social...I think I deserved the rest. Well... welcome back to school!
Beijinhos
