Janeiro (January)!
I can't believe it's already halfway through January. Where did the time go? Where is it going? I can't believe I only have half a year left. It sounds like a long time, but it's going to go by quite quickly I think.
Tuesday last week we went to see Música no Coração (Music in the heart), aka the Sound of Music. It was quite good--interesting because everything was in portuguese! Even the songs were all translated well. I understood I think most of the talking and a good part of the songs, though it's harder to understand songs.
On Wednesday I went to the Gulbenkian (a museum/theater/organization that has art and concerts and things--very cool) with Xuxu and MIguelinho to see an exhibit of works by Amadeo de Souza Cardoso (and other artists who paint similarly). It was really cool--do a google search for his name and you'll see some pretty cool artwork.
Thursday afternoon I went to the next bairro/zone over to a music school to see if I could ask someone about a worry I had about my clarinet. Problem was I didn't know where the music school was, so I ended up walking around a lot and asking random people and finally got there. The clarinet teacher wasn't there, though, so i went back friday.
Friday night I went to band practice but no one was there, so went back home and helped Miguel and Miguel re-arrange the living room as kind of a "while you were out" type of project (xuxu was out at the time). we moved sofas and tables and the TV and now it's all different! I think I like it....
Saturday I went to Scouts and helped out with a event they were having for the elderly, which was fun. Then came home, got dressed in pimba (tacky) and went to the birthday party of Liz (California)'s host sister Rita (the theme was pimba). It was ok...I didn't know hardly anyone so the bus trip was kind of awkward...and then there was the usual: really really loud music and dancing. The food was good though. After I while I usually get tired of dancing... At around 3 Liz and I went to the house (it was at a beautiful old farm from 1776--really awesome) and sat in her room and talked, which was nice. The bus left at 4:45. We arrived around 6 I think and I ended up getting home at 7 AM. crazy.
Sunday I didn't do much, Monday I went to see Eragon with Catarina from another class. good, though the book is better.
Tuesday went to one of my classmates, Josiane's house for "lanche," aka afternoon snack. then dance, which is nice as usual. I think I need it to relax and breathe a bit.
Yesterday I didn't do much, and today not much either.
Tests start the week after next eek, so I might do some studying this weekend. They study more here than in the US, but do less homework. I'm almost missing learning by homework as opposed to learning by studying all the time.
Things are still hard but good anyhow. I still don't feel like I've made close friends, but that takes time. My portuguese is ok...I think it can get interesting at times...
I've started having dreams again...last night I had one about smirkus auditions, which I'm so sad about missing. I hope they were lots of fun!
Well chau and até logo!

LYd-kyd! Going to all night parties, museums, and out to plays and movies on school nights! I think you're going to find Concord pretty quiet and dull next year. Sounds like a fun week. xxx
